busterblog - BREAKING: Anambra's Myrtle Vine Academy Wins UK’s Global Schools Connect Competition

In an extraordinary display of academic brilliance and global competitiveness, Myrtle Vine Academy, located in Anambra State, Nigeria, has emerged as the overall winner of the prestigious United Kingdom-organised 'Global Schools Connect' competition, triumphing over elite institutions from across continents.

The Global Schools Connect, a highly competitive and globally respected educational contest, brings together top-performing schools from various countries to engage in collaborative, innovative, and intellectually rigorous challenges designed to foster cross-cultural learning, 21st-century skills, and global citizenship. Myrtle Vine Academy not only participated but carved its name in golden letters by clinching the top prize, an achievement that has placed Nigeria firmly on the global academic map.

Organised by a UK-based educational consortium in collaboration with international partners and British educational bodies, the competition featured schools from Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa. The 2025 edition saw rigorous evaluations in STEM innovation, climate education, global leadership, digital literacy, and cultural exchange, where participating schools were scored on creativity, teamwork, communication, and impact.

Myrtle Vine Academy stunned the judges with its cutting-edge project titled “EcoSmart Africa: Greening Tomorrow Through Youth Innovation”, which showcased sustainable energy prototypes, smart agricultural systems powered by AI, and a digital campaign aimed at promoting environmental awareness among school children in rural Africa.

The panel of judges, which included top educators from Oxford, Cambridge, and the British Council, described the Anambra-based school as “visionary, purpose-driven, and truly global in mindset,” awarding them the platinum laureate medal and an exclusive opportunity for an academic tour of the UK later this year.

Speaking after the announcement, the visibly elated school director, Mrs. Ugochi Ezenwa, dedicated the victory to the “resilience and brilliance of Nigerian children.” She added, “This is proof that with the right environment and encouragement, Nigerian students can compete — and win — at any level.”

In response, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo issued an official congratulatory statement, calling Myrtle Vine Academy’s victory a “historic moment for the state and the entire nation.” He announced plans to host the students and staff at the Government House in Awka to celebrate their achievement and encourage other schools to aim for international excellence.

Social media is already buzzing with praise and national pride, with hashtags like #MyrtleVineWins, #GlobalSchoolsConnect, and #ProudlyAnambra trending across Nigeria.

This victory not only celebrates Myrtle Vine Academy but also reignites hope in Nigeria’s educational future—at a time when global attention is often drawn to the challenges rather than the successes in the country’s school system.
