BREAKING: Festus Keyamo Orders Kwam 1 Be Placed on No-Fly List Amid Airport Scandal

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing Abuja airport saga involving Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to place the 68-year-old singer on a no-fly list, pending the outcome of a full investigation into the controversial incident.
This directive, which Keyamo confirmed on X (formerly Twitter), comes just days after the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) accused the music icon of violating airport safety protocols by attempting to board a ValueJet Airlines flight from Abuja to Lagos with an “unidentified liquid substance”—allegedly alcohol—in defiance of warnings from AVSEC officers and the flight captain.
According to Keyamo’s statement “NCAA TO PLACE KWAM 1 on a NO-FLY list pending further and full investigation, just like the Captain and Pilot. ALL AIRLINES, both domestic and international, should IMMEDIATELY be informed of this directive.”
This bold move aligns with the recent suspension of two ValueJet pilots involved in the same incident. The pilots were sanctioned for reportedly failing to enforce proper boarding rules, which aviation authorities feared could have compromised flight safety.
Kwam 1, however, has denied the allegations, stating through his media aide Kunle Rasheed that the flask in question contained only water, not alcohol.
He described FAAN’s claims as “exaggerated and misleading,” adding that he complied with all boarding procedures and tried to clarify the situation peacefully before it was “unnecessarily escalated.”
The unfolding drama has sparked intense public debate, especially regarding celebrity privileges, aviation safety, and government overreach. While some netizens are applauding Keyamo’s zero-tolerance stance, others view the no-fly directive as hasty and overly punitive without conclusive evidence of wrongdoing.
Legal analysts are now questioning whether placing a citizen on a no-fly list without formal charges or a public hearing could raise constitutional concerns. Others argue that Keyamo’s swift action signals a new era of strict enforcement and accountability in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
As the nation watches closely, all eyes remain on the NCAA, FAAN, and the Office of the Aviation Minister for the next steps in this developing story. Will KWAM 1 face a formal ban? Or will the iconic musician prove, once and for all, that he was simply holding water—not whiskey?
