Controversial TikTok content creator Peller has broken his silence after facing heavy criticism over how he conducted his recent on-camera job interview, where he reportedly asked a female applicant about her tribe during a live session. The online uproar sparked accusations of tribal bias and public humiliation — but Peller isn’t backing down.
In a defiant update posted to his page, the influencer clarified that he has already selected his cameraman from the pool of 20 applicants who showed up. However, he also took time to address the backlash, particularly from a female participant who accused him of insensitive questioning and unauthorized livestreaming.
“As for the girl saying I asked for her tribe and livestreamed it, I was joking,” Peller said bluntly.
“I told everyone ahead that the interview would be live. Nobody was dragged to apply. So stop putting the blame on me.”
The viral moment occurred during a TikTok live where Peller held an open job audition for a media assistant role. Viewers were shocked when he casually asked one female candidate, “Which tribe are you?”, followed by what many perceived as mocking laughter. The incident immediately drew criticism from both fans and human rights advocates, who slammed the process as unprofessional and discriminatory.
But Peller insists the backlash is overblown.
“People just want something to talk about. It was all part of the content. I made it clear — if you weren’t comfortable, you shouldn’t have come.”
The statement has drawn mixed reactions online. Some followers defended him, saying the livestream was obviously intended to be part of his brand's “raw and real” content style. Others, however, argue that job seekers deserve dignity, not content fodder, especially in a country where youth unemployment is already at crisis levels.
With his chosen cameraman now confirmed and the drama still swirling, one thing’s for sure: Peller’s hiring process may be over, but the controversy is just getting started.
