In a bold clapback that’s now going viral across Nigerian social media, a young lady has silenced critics who previously mocked her lifestyle by announcing her engagement—with serious luxury to back it up.
The unnamed lady, whose video has been making rounds on TikTok and Instagram, proudly declared:
“To all the people that told me I will never get married because I like to smoke Igbo always, well I am now engaged.”
In the viral post, she showed off a sparkling diamond engagement ring, leaving viewers stunned not just by the size of the stone but by the confidence with which she addressed the haters.
But it didn’t end there.
The bride-to-be went further to unveil a collection of expensive Apple gadgets—including the latest iPhone, MacBook Pro, AirPods Max, and even an Apple Watch Ultra—all gifts from her fiancé, whom she described as “a man that loves me for me.”
Social media erupted with mixed reactions. While many congratulated her on finding love on her own terms, others questioned the public display of material gifts and whether it was an appropriate response to critics.
But for her, the message was clear—freedom of expression and lifestyle doesn’t disqualify anyone from finding love and being valued. She has now become a symbol of defiance for a section of Nigerian youth who often feel judged by societal expectations of “acceptable behavior.”
The video, captioned with emojis of rings, smoke, and hearts, also came with a swipe at moral critics who associate weed-smoking women with irresponsibility or moral failure. In her words:
“Your smoke no concern anybody. If he loves you, he loves YOU. Periodt!”
While her stance may continue to fuel debates online, what’s undeniable is the joy in her voice and the sparkle on her finger.
Love, it seems, has no uniform—and sometimes, it smells like freedom and comes with an Apple logo.
