In a fiery video that’s now making waves across social media, Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has publicly dragged the EFCC Chairman, questioning the alleged ₦39 billion renovation of the newly renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.
Fayose, known for his no-holds-barred commentary, made the statement while recounting his experience at Seyi Vodi’s party, held just yesterday at the ICC. With a mix of sarcasm and frustration, he took a direct swipe at the anti-graft agency’s leadership:
“EFCC chairman, you were at Seyi Vodi’s party yesterday at ICC — now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Center — and you saw the 39 billion naira renovation. Does the place look like 39 billion place? I was sweating like Christmas goat inside there yesterday!”
The outspoken businessman didn’t stop there. He emphasized that the facility, despite the huge figure attached to its facelift, lacked basic ventilation and amenities worthy of such a jaw-dropping sum.
“No air conditioning, poor lighting — you spend 39 billion to renovate a hall and I dey sweat like say I be cow for Sallah eve?” he added with a dramatic eye-roll.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu ICC was recently commissioned amid fanfare, with officials praising the renovation as a symbol of national prestige. But Fayose’s explosive commentary has sparked new questions about transparency, project inflation, and Nigeria’s obsession with image over substance.
Netizens are now calling for an independent audit of the renovation project, especially as Nigerians continue to groan under economic pressure.
One X user quipped, “For 39 billion, that hall should be snowing. Not sweating!” Another wrote, “This is why EFCC needs to investigate themselves.”
As the EFCC maintains its fight against financial crimes and unexplained wealth, critics are now turning the spotlight inward — asking whether the agency can truly uphold justice if it ignores obvious red flags in plain sight.
So far, the EFCC has not responded to Fayose’s direct call-out. But one thing is certain: the heat inside the ICC isn’t just physical — it’s political.
