busterblog - JUST IN: Adamawa State Gifts Super Falcons Coach Justin Madugu House and ₦50 Million After WAFCON Triumph

In a powerful gesture of recognition and pride, the Adamawa State Government has rewarded Super Falcons assistant coach Justin Madugu with a fully furnished house and ₦50 million cash following the team’s stunning triumph at the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in an official ceremony held at the Government House in Yola on Friday, praised Madugu not only for his technical brilliance and commitment to women’s football but also for bringing international honour to Adamawa State and Nigeria at large. The state’s sports-loving governor called the reward "a token of our appreciation for making us proud on the continental stage."

Madugu, who hails from Adamawa, served as one of the pivotal tactical minds behind the Super Falcons’ dominant WAFCON campaign, which saw Nigeria clinch the title in a thrilling final against hosts Morocco. His role in motivating the team and building squad depth in a tournament many deemed the most competitive edition yet has earned widespread accolades from football authorities and fans across the continent.

The ₦50 million cash prize and the residential property were presented in front of dignitaries, sports stakeholders, and jubilant citizens. Governor Fintiri stated that this reward aims to inspire other professionals in the state to "excel with dedication, integrity, and passion in whatever field they find themselves."

This is not the first time a Nigerian coach has received state honours after a major tournament victory, but Madugu’s reward stands out for its timeliness and generosity, especially at a time when local coaches often complain of neglect despite flying the nation’s flag high.

Reacting emotionally, Coach Madugu thanked the government and people of Adamawa, saying, “I never did this for reward, but I’m humbled by this overwhelming gesture. This pushes me to work even harder for the country and for the development of football in our dear state.”

His recognition adds to the growing conversation around the need to properly reward Nigerian coaches, particularly those working within women's football, where funding and acknowledgment are historically lacking.

The Super Falcons’ WAFCON victory has reignited national pride and renewed interest in women’s football, and Madugu's reward could serve as a blueprint for other states to honour their local heroes who contribute significantly to national glory.
