The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Hundeyin, who takes over the national spokesperson role, is widely known for his articulate communication style and strong presence in both traditional and social media. Before this appointment, he served as the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, where he became a familiar voice in clarifying security issues, crime updates, and sensitive law enforcement matters.
Sources within the Force Headquarters described the appointment as a strategic move by IGP Egbetokun to “strengthen trust between the police and the Nigerian public.” Hundeyin’s tenure in Lagos earned him a reputation for transparency, especially during the #EndSARS aftermath and recent high-profile crime incidents.
As Force PRO, Hundeyin will now be responsible for shaping nationwide police communication, engaging the media, and improving public relations at a time when the Nigeria Police Force faces increasing scrutiny over security challenges, human rights concerns, and the push for reforms.
Reactions are already pouring in on social media, with many Nigerians hailing his elevation as “well-deserved” while others call on him to prioritize accountability and timely information dissemination.
With this new assignment, CSP Hundeyin becomes the official voice of the Nigeria Police Force, tasked with navigating one of the most demanding public relations roles in the country.
