Police Dismiss Claims of Assassination Attempt on Lt. Ahmed Yerima After Clash With Wike

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed circulating reports alleging that Nigerian Navy officer Lt. Ahmed Yerima survived an assassination attempt in Abuja following his viral face-off with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to the police, the claims are false, baseless, and completely unsubstantiated, urging the public to disregard the rumours being spread across social media platforms.

The reports emerged shortly after Yerima’s heated confrontation with Wike over access to a disputed Abuja land allegedly linked to former Naval Chief Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, a clash that sparked nationwide debate and ethnic tensions online.

Police officials maintain that no incident of an attack or threat to Yerima’s life was recorded and caution the public against amplifying misinformation capable of escalating tensions surrounding the already sensitive matter.
