Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has come out swinging against a content creator who falsely claimed she tested positive for HIV, calling the defamatory post a \"wicked and dangerous lie\" and vowing to make the poster a scapegoat.
In a strongly worded public statement shared via her Instagram account, Dayo Amusa recounted how she had posted her negative HIV status a few years ago to encourage her fans to get tested and prioritize their health.
However, to her shock, a content creator—whose identity she revealed in a second slide—resurfaced the old post, falsely claiming she is now HIV positive.
“By now, he himself knows what he is going through because I will not let this slide,” Amusa declared. “Why do content creators and bloggers post unverified information?”
The actress expressed deep concern about the impact of such misinformation on her family, friends, and supporters, saying, “I have families and friends who read all these lies.”
Clearly infuriated, she didn’t mince words about her next steps, stating: “He will be my scapegoat and serve as a lesson to others. I am NOT HIV Positive.”
The post has since sparked outrage on social media, with fans, fellow celebrities, and activists rallying behind Dayo Amusa and calling for stricter regulations against fake news and defamatory content online.
Legal experts have also weighed in, suggesting the actress has a solid case for libel and cyber defamation, particularly as the false claim touches on sensitive health information.
This development once again shines a spotlight on the recklessness of some online content creators, who chase clicks and virality at the cost of truth, integrity, and human dignity.
While the identity of the blogger in question has yet to be confirmed by authorities, insiders say legal papers are already being drawn up, and the individual may face criminal charges and civil lawsuits in the coming days.
As the saga unfolds, one message rings loud and clear from Dayo Amusa: \"I will not be bullied by lies.\"
