“I’m Not Sophia”: Anu’s Mother Fires Back at Billionaire Deji in Explosive Public Statement
A fresh storm is brewing in the long-running controversy surrounding Anu Adeleke, as her mother, Ayo Labinjo, has publicly and sternly cautioned billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke, father of music star Davido, warning him to stop speaking on behalf of his son and accusing him of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse
A fresh storm is brewing in the long-running controversy surrounding Anu Adeleke, as her mother, Ayo Labinjo, has publicly and sternly cautioned billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke, father of music star Davido, warning him to stop speaking on behalf of his son and accusing him of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse of power. In a strongly worded statement dated January 21, 2026, Ayo declared, “I’m not Sophia. You should not be talking on David’s behalf,” drawing a clear line between her situation and past public child support disputes involving the singer.
The statement, which quickly began circulating online, reflects mounting tension between the Labinjo family and the powerful Adeleke dynasty. Ayo did not mince words as she addressed Dr. Adeleke directly, referring to him as the patriarch of the family but insisting that his involvement in the matter is inappropriate. According to her, any discussions or disputes concerning her daughter Anu should be addressed directly by Davido himself and not mediated or controlled by his billionaire father.
In her emotional disclosure, Ayo expressed shock and betrayal over allegations that her own sister, Titilayo Labinjo, had reportedly been in communication with Dr. Deji Adeleke since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. She revealed that her sister recently called their mother from Abuja, expressing fear over increasing media attention surrounding Anu’s story and complaining that coworkers were questioning her about it. Their mother, Mrs. Ropo Labinjo, reportedly advised Titilayo to ignore the gossip, stating that Anu’s life should not serve as office entertainment.
However, Ayo raised troubling questions about why her sister would allegedly maintain contact with the Adeleke family without her knowledge. She accused unnamed parties of using financial influence to turn family members into informants, suggesting that money may have exchanged hands. Quoting the Bible verse Matthew 10:36 — “A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household” — Ayo painted a picture of deep familial betrayal and emotional distress.
Addressing long-standing speculation surrounding social media posts about Anu, Ayo clarified claims involving controversial journalist Dr. Kemi Olunloyo. She explained that Dr. Kemi created a social media page in 2019 using photographs, including some taken personally with Anu, and handed over the account to the family. According to Ayo, she is not an active social media user and did not post for four years until resuming activity in 2023 during Anu’s 10th birthday photoshoot.
She also dismissed any claims of coordinated activity between her family and Dr. Kemi, stating clearly that they do not maintain communication with her despite her continued public commentary about their situation. Ayo acknowledged that Dr. Kemi had previously organized a press conference and handled public relations during their 2018 appeal but insisted there has been no recent collaboration.
In her statement, Ayo also denied allegations that she and Anu met with Dr. Deji Adeleke in 2020 for additional DNA tests. “Anu and I NEVER met with you in 2020 for four additional DNA tests,” she wrote emphatically, challenging the billionaire to publicly release any test results if they exist. “Post the tests, sir,” she demanded.
The DNA issue has long been a central element in the dispute over Anu’s paternity, which has played out both in courtrooms and in the court of public opinion. While Davido has publicly acknowledged other children, Anu’s case has remained contentious, with multiple reported DNA tests and legal proceedings over the years. Ayo’s latest statement appears to reopen old wounds and reignite public scrutiny.
In an especially pointed remark, Ayo wrote, “David is obviously a boy and not a man,” criticizing what she described as an unwillingness by the singer to directly address her. She further accused Dr. Adeleke of abusing his power and wealth in attempts to intimidate her family. In perhaps the most alarming portion of the statement, she warned that if anything were to happen to her, her daughter, or her mother, authorities should hold Dr. Adeleke responsible.
She also sought to clear the air regarding rumors involving other members of the Adeleke family. Ayo stated she has not seen B-Red, Davido’s cousin, since February 2013, when he reportedly dined at her place of work, GQ Club in Ibadan. She denied that Anu has ever met B-Red and referenced an old interview in which she was asked speculative questions about potential relationships within the Adeleke circle.
The statement has since sparked intense reactions online, with social media users divided in their opinions. Some sympathize with Ayo’s frustration, arguing that she deserves direct communication and transparency. Others question the timing and motive behind making such allegations public once again.
What remains undeniable is that this latest development adds another chapter to a saga that has spanned over a decade, intertwining fame, family, wealth, and deeply personal disputes. The Adeleke family has not yet issued a formal response to Ayo’s claims as of the time of this report.
Observers note that the situation underscores broader themes about power dynamics, celebrity influence, and the challenges of resolving private family matters under public scrutiny. In Nigeria’s celebrity culture, where social media often serves as a courtroom, such statements can quickly shape public perception long before any legal conclusion is reached.
For now, Ayo Labinjo’s message is clear and unequivocal: she wants direct accountability from Davido himself and rejects what she perceives as interference from his father. Whether this bold public confrontation will lead to renewed legal action, private negotiations, or further public exchanges remains to be seen.
As the story continues to unfold, many are watching closely to see whether the Adeleke patriarch will respond to the allegations or maintain silence. One thing is certain — the controversy surrounding Anu Adeleke is far from over, and the latest statement ensures it remains firmly in the national conversation.
