Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped further in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, falling to 45th globally and sixth in Africa, according to the list released today.
The drop reflects the team’s recent inconsistent performances, including mixed results in international friendlies and qualifiers, which have impacted their standing on the global stage.
Across Africa, Morocco continue to lead the continent’s rankings, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, with Nigeria now trailing behind after once being a dominant force.
Globally, Argentina remain top of the rankings, followed closely by France and Brazil, underscoring the stiff competition at the highest levels of world football.
The Super Eagles’ slip is expected to fuel further debate among fans and analysts, especially with the team preparing for upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Many argue that despite Nigeria’s immense talent pool, poor management and tactical inconsistencies continue to hinder progress.
