The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has once again proven its academic excellence, securing full accreditation for 36 out of 37 courses submitted to the National Universities Commission (NUC) during the accreditation exercise held between October and November 2024.
The results, announced on April 30, 2025, highlight the institution\'s commitment to maintaining high educational standards.
The only course that did not receive full accreditation, Hausa, was granted interim accreditation, a positive step toward eventual full approval.
This achievement underscores UNILORIN\'s position as a leading academic institution in Nigeria, further solidifying its reputation for quality education and administrative efficiency.
Located in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, UNILORIN boasts an expansive campus spanning 15,000 hectares, making it the largest university in Nigeria and one of the largest in Africa by land area.
Established in 1975, the federal government-owned university has grown into a hub of academic excellence, housing 16 faculties and over 100 academic departments that collectively offer 103 programs.
From Arts to Engineering, Agriculture to Law, and Basic Medical Sciences to Environmental Sciences, UNILORIN provides a diverse range of disciplines that cater to a wide student population.
Notably, the university attracts the highest number of international students in Nigeria, reflecting its global appeal and the trust placed in its academic offerings.
UNILORIN’s consistent success is not a new phenomenon. Often referred to as \"Better By Far,\" a slogan that resonates deeply with its community, the university has maintained its status as Nigeria’s most competitive institution for over a decade.
This reputation is built on a foundation of ethical governance, academic rigor, and a commitment to fostering an environment free from vices such as cultism, which has plagued other institutions. Despite not being a faith-based university,
UNILORIN has cultivated a culture of discipline and integrity, making it a preferred choice for students and parents alike.
The recent accreditation success further cements its standing as a beacon of quality education in Nigeria, aligning with the NUC\'s goal of ensuring that at least 80% of academic programs in Nigerian universities achieve full accreditation.
This milestone is a testament to UNILORIN’s dedication to academic excellence and its role in shaping the future of higher education in Nigeria.
As the university continues to grow, it remains a symbol of what is possible when an institution prioritizes quality, innovation, and student success.
For prospective students and stakeholders, UNILORIN’s latest achievement is a clear indicator of its unwavering commitment to providing world-class education.
