Tragedy in Lekki: Man Jumps from Four-Storey Building During Alleged EFCC Raid

A wave of grief and outrage has swept through Lagos following the death of Endurance Udeke, a Lekki resident who reportedly jumped from a four-storey building on November 4, 2025, in an attempt to evade an EFCC operation targeting suspected internet fraudsters.

Although the tragic event resurfaced online as “breaking news” on November 10, new details reveal the incident actually occurred days earlier.

According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), operatives never made direct contact with Udeke before he plunged to his death. The agency stated that officers attempted to render immediate medical aid after discovering his fall, and promptly notified his family before the police began a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Social media has since ignited with mixed emotions. Some Nigerians have expressed deep sympathy for the young man’s family, condemning what they describe as the “psychological terror” associated with EFCC raids in residential areas.
