Renowned Nollywood actor, Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, popularly known as Lalude, has stirred up social media outrage after revealing that despite dedicating over a month to campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he and his colleagues received nothing substantial in return—except a daily food allowance of ₦10,000.

In an emotional video now making rounds online, the Yoruba movie star expressed deep disappointment and heartbreak over how he and other entertainers were allegedly used during the 2023 general elections without being truly appreciated.

“We campaigned for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu for one month and three weeks,” Lalude lamented. “We followed them everywhere, sang, danced, and performed. But at the end of the day, all we got was ₦10,000 per day for food. Nothing else was given to us.”

The revelation has since sparked heated conversations across Nigeria’s digital space, with citizens calling out the ruling party for “using and dumping” local celebrities. Some supporters of the APC quickly tried to downplay the actor’s claims, while others expressed sympathy and disapproval over the alleged neglect.

“This is heartbreaking,” a user commented on X. “Lalude is a respected legend. If he’s crying out like this, then something is really wrong with how these entertainers are treated after elections.”

Others questioned why celebrities would campaign for politicians without solid agreements or written contracts. “Wasn’t it obvious you were just a pawn in their political chessboard?” one netizen asked. “₦10K a day for food during election campaigns in this economy is an insult, not a favor.”

Many see this as yet another chapter in the growing list of post-election betrayals experienced by grassroots campaigners and influencers who threw their weight behind politicians with high hopes—only to be sidelined after the victory celebrations ended.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Tinubu administration have remained largely silent on the matter, and no official statement has been made in response to Lalude’s claims at the time of this report.

As Nigerians continue to battle biting economic hardship and skyrocketing inflation, stories like Lalude’s only deepen the public’s frustration toward political elites and how promises made during campaigns often vanish after votes are secured.
