Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of its most charismatic stars. Julian McMahon, the Australian-born actor best known for his iconic roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, has passed away at the age of 56.
The actor died peacefully in Clearwater, Florida, following a private battle with cancer, as confirmed by his wife, Kelly McMahon.
“Julian was a fighter, a beautiful soul who loved life and gave everything to his craft,” Kelly shared in an emotional statement. “He died peacefully, surrounded by love.”
Julian’s passing has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, where he was celebrated for his magnetic screen presence and bold character choices.
Fans remember him most fondly as Dr. Christian Troy, the dangerously charming plastic surgeon in Nip/Tuck, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination and global acclaim.
He also stole hearts as Cole Turner, the brooding demon-turned-lover in the cult hit Charmed, and later took on the role of Victor Von Doom in the Fantastic Four film franchise.
More recently, McMahon starred in the CBS series FBI: Most Wanted, where his performance as Jess LaCroix won him a new generation of fans.
Born in Sydney in 1968, Julian was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Sir William McMahon.
He began his career as a model before transitioning into acting with roles in Australian soaps like Home and Away. From there, he conquered Hollywood with a career that spanned over three decades.
Tributes have poured in from co-stars and fans around the world. Holly Marie Combs, his Charmed co-star, called him “one of a kind — funny, fierce, and full of life.” Ioan Gruffudd, who starred alongside him in Fantastic Four, said, “Every encounter with Julian was a joy. His charm and energy were unforgettable.”
McMahon’s wife, Kelly, and daughter, Madison, have asked for privacy during this time, stating:
“We ask those who knew and loved Julian to hold on to his laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought to this world.”
As the entertainment world says goodbye, one thing is certain: Julian McMahon’s legacy will live on through the characters he brought to life and the fans who loved him.
Rest in peace, Julian. You were truly one of a kind.
